Top 25 Movie Scores/Soundtracks: 16-25

An underrated aspect to cinema is how much a good musical score/soundtrack can enhance a film.  The list I am about to give are my personal favorites and I am not trying to give an objective list.  The choices are unlimited, so don’t get too mad if your favorite doesn’t make the cut.  There are tons I left out.  For this list, I stuck to scores/soundtracks developed specifically for the movie.  So, while I love the Pulp Fiction soundtrack, it did not qualify.  So, put your speakers and headphones on and enjoy.  I encourage guesses for the Top 5 in comments.

25. Star Wars (John Williams)

24. Gladiator (Hans Zimmer)

23. Rocky (Bill Conti)

22. The Natural (Randy Newman)

21. Glory (James Horner)

20. Shawshank Redemption (Thomas Newman)

19. Back to the Future (Alan Silvestri)

18. The Untouchables (Ennio Morricone)

17. Jaws (John Williams)

16. The Godfather (Nino Rota)

Love “The Godfather” score! Surprised it isn’t higher on the list actually. Nino Rota was an amazing composer, if you haven’t heard the score to Fellini’s 1974 Best Foreign Language Film Oscar winner “Amarcord”, I’d check it out. Sure there is a link somewhere on youtube for the theme.
